Earth Moving Course
The Earth Moving Course equips physics professionals with skills to master slope stability analysis. It links mechanics to landslides, pore pressure, and monitoring data, enabling risk assessment, safer site design, and clear quantitative decisions from real terrain data. Participants gain practical tools for analysing ground movement and ensuring reliable observatory siting on challenging sites.

What will I learn?
This course provides a practical toolkit for analysing slope stability and ground movement on tough sites. Learners will classify mass movements, create simple mechanical models, estimate material and hydrologic parameters, perform sensitivity and uncertainty analyses, interpret monitoring data, and produce clear technical reports for long-term site decisions.
Elevify advantages
Develop skills
- Build slope stability models using force balance, pore pressure, and safety factors.
- Analyse real terrains with DEMs, maps, and climate data to classify slope hazards.
- Estimate geotechnical parameters like density, cohesion, friction angle, and permeability.
- Conduct quick sensitivity checks by varying slope, water table, and strength to assess risk.
- Design and interpret monitoring using InSAR, GNSS, and ground sensors for motion detection.
