What will I learn?

You will build a thorough understanding of atmospheric thermodynamics, adiabatic processes, and the stability criteria that govern convective weather. You will learn to analyze upper-air soundings using skew-T log-P diagrams and compute critical parameters including CAPE, CIN, and the Lifted Index. The course covers boundary layer evolution, mesoscale convective systems, and severe weather environments in detail. You will also explore stability applications in aviation, air quality, remote sensing, and numerical weather prediction. By the end, you will be able to construct, interpret, and verify stability-based convective forecasts using both observed data and model output.
