What will I learn?
This course equips you with hands-on skills to machine tough alloy shafts confidently using CNC. You'll cover machine choices, workholding methods, cutting speeds and feeds, plus tool materials suited for 32–36 HRC steels. Gain expertise in coolant use, toolpath tweaks, surface checks, and measurements, then use validation steps and production oversight to shorten cycles, improve quality, and prolong tool life right on the factory floor.
Elevify advantages
Develop skills
- Master CNC shaft machining: set up turning, milling, and drilling for hardened alloy shafts.
- Excel in cutting data: select optimal speeds, feeds, and depths for efficient, stable CNC operations.
- Choose tooling for tough steels: pick inserts, grades, and coatings to maximise tool lifespan.
- Control surface finish and tolerances: achieve required Ra, runout, and geometry on gearbox shafts.
- Optimise processes: cut cycle times, monitor OEE, and maintain consistent CNC quality.
