What will I learn?
You will learn how four-party card networks move value from a card swipe to final fund transfer, and exactly where clearing and settlement fit in that flow. You will understand how authorisation data feeds clearing files, how interchange fees are calculated and applied, and how net settlement positions are determined. You will gain hands-on knowledge of chargeback reason codes, representment procedures, and dispute escalation paths. The course also covers reconciliation controls at the merchant, acquirer, and issuer levels, plus fraud liability allocation and operational fraud controls in settlement. By the end, you will be equipped to design KPI dashboards, evaluate processing models, and assess the impact of tokenisation and real-time payments on your operations.
