What will I learn?
This Numerical Methods Course takes you through modelling an axially loaded steel column, working out the nonlinear governing equation, and picking good root-finding algorithms. You will get hands-on with implementing Newton–Raphson, bisection, and secant methods, setting proper stopping criteria, doing sensitivity and uncertainty analysis, checking results, and reporting final stresses, deformations, and safety checks in a professional way.
