What will I learn?
In this course, you will study communication as a cultural phenomenon grounded in anthropological theory and ethnographic method. You will learn how language, nonverbal behaviour, and discourse reflect and reinforce social structures, identities, and power relations. The curriculum covers sociolinguistics, multilingualism, ritual performance, and digital communication, giving you a comprehensive analytical toolkit. You will apply frameworks from scholars such as Dell Hymes, Norman Fairclough, and Erving Goffman to real communicative data.
