What will I learn?
This Blasting Techniques Course equips participants with hands-on skills to design and carry out safe, effective bench blasts using bulk ANFO explosives. Key areas include understanding explosive properties, calculating charge factors, determining burden and spacing, choosing hole diameter and depth, and managing non-electric initiation timing. Participants will learn to control vibration, airblast, and flyrock, utilise rock mass data for better fragmentation, and adhere to procedures for planning, communication, emergency response, and regulatory compliance in Sierra Leone mining environments.
Elevify advantages
Develop skills
- Design blast patterns by applying burden, spacing, and powder factor in field conditions.
- Optimise ANFO usage by selecting charge, VOD, and stemming for safe, clean blasts.
- Assess rock masses using RQD, GSI, and joints to adjust bench blast performance.
- Manage blast impacts by predicting vibration, airblast, and flyrock to safeguard structures.
- Conduct safe blasts by planning, initiating, and recording non-electric bench blasts per regulations.
