Magmatism Course

Magmatism Course
from 4 to 360h flexible workload
valid certificate in your country

What will I learn?

This course provides a practical overview of magma generation, movement, storage, and solidification in arc environments. Participants explore key processes including mantle melting, differentiation, thermodynamics, dike and sill emplacement, magma chamber development, and rock textures. Learners integrate field observations, petrologic analysis, and geochemical data to construct clear cross-sections, applying these insights to volcanic hazards, resource evaluation, and technical reporting.

Elevify advantages

Develop skills

  • Map magma pathways by quickly modelling dikes, sills, chambers, and ascent controls.
  • Decode arc magma chemistry confidently by interpreting major, trace, and REE patterns.
  • Interpret rock textures to connect mineral zoning and cooling histories with magma evolution.
  • Build comprehensive arc cross-sections integrating field, petrologic, and geophysical data.
  • Apply magmatic models to evaluate volcanic hazards, geothermal energy, and ore deposit potential.
