What will I learn?

The Specimen Collection Course provides straightforward, hands-on training to assist you in collecting blood, urine, and swab samples properly and securely. You will learn venipuncture methods, selecting the right tubes, the sequence for drawing blood, procedures for blood cultures and coagulation, patient identification and consent, guidelines for fasting and preparation, ways to avoid hemolysis, criteria for rejecting samples, and correct storage and transport to ensure reliable results and minimise errors.
