What will I learn?
The Earth Moving Course provides a compact, practical toolkit to analyse slope stability and ground movement for demanding sites. You will learn to classify mass movements, build simplified mechanical models, estimate material and hydrologic parameters, run basic sensitivity and uncertainty analyses, interpret monitoring data, and turn results into clear technical notes that support reliable, long-term observatory siting decisions.
Elevify advantages
Develop skills
- Build slope stability models: apply force balance, pore pressure, and safety factors.
- Analyse real terrains: use DEMs, maps, and climate data to classify slope hazards.
- Estimate geotechnical parameters: density, cohesion, friction angle, and permeability.
- Run quick sensitivity checks: vary slope, water table, and strength to gauge risk.
- Design and interpret monitoring: integrate InSAR, GNSS, and ground sensors for motion.
