What will I learn?
This Rock Mechanics Course equips participants with hands-on abilities to analyse granite rock masses, implement RMR and Q classification systems, and evaluate in-situ stresses in rugged, seismically active terrains. Participants will learn to identify failure mechanisms, devise initial drill-and-blast tunnel support plans, employ empirical diagrams and basic instruments, and establish surveillance plus flexible support protocols for secure and effective subterranean developments.
Elevify advantages
Develop skills
- Rock mass characterisation: assess granite properties and joint conditions swiftly.
- Rock classification for design: utilise RMR/Q systems to determine tunnel support dimensions rapidly.
- Elastic tunnel analysis: calculate stress redistribution and principal failure mechanisms.
- In-situ stress evaluation: establish realistic stress conditions for initial designs.
- Monitoring and adaptive support: analyse data to enhance tunnel support proactively.
