Neurobiology Course
This course explores the neurobiological underpinnings of early memory dysfunction, focusing on hippocampal circuits, synaptic plasticity, and the role of ion channels, protein aggregation, and neuroinflammation in neurodegeneration. It connects cellular mechanisms to imaging findings (MRI, PET, EEG) and teaches practical experimental design for disease models.

What will I learn?
This Neurobiology Course provides a focused overview of early memory dysfunction, covering hippocampal circuits and key cell types to synaptic physiology, plasticity, and excitatory–inhibitory balance. Learners will understand how ion channel disruption, protein aggregation, neuroinflammation, and glial activation lead to synapse loss, and connect these to MRI, PET, EEG findings along with practical experimental methods for interpreting disease models.
Elevify advantages
Develop skills
- Map hippocampal circuits: quickly link CA fields, dentate gyrus and entorhinal cortex.
- Interpret MRI, PET, EEG: connect cellular pathology to early memory symptoms fast.
- Analyze synaptic plasticity: relate LTP/LTD defects to episodic memory loss.
- Evaluate ion channels and protein aggregates as early neurodegeneration drivers.
- Design targeted experiments using slices, rodent models and human iPSC neurons.
