What will I learn?
This practical astronomer training course covers selecting stellar targets, estimating planetary parameters, planning observing runs and exposure times, handling time standards, computing O–C diagrams, estimating noise and detection confidence, designing tables and figures, plus best practices for data sharing, documenting limitations, and proposing impactful follow-up work.
Elevify advantages
Develop skills
- Exoplanet target selection: choose optimal stars and planets for fast transit work.
- Observatory planning: predict visibility, airmass, and twilight for clean data.
- Exposure and cadence design: tune SNR, filters, and baselines for sharp light curves.
- Noise and SNR analysis: quantify scintillation, photon noise, and transit depth.
- Transit timing analysis: refine periods, build O–C diagrams, and report ephemerides.
