Basic Suturing Course
What will I learn?
You will learn how wounds heal at each tissue layer and how to match suture materials and needle types to clinical requirements. The course walks you through every closure technique, including simple interrupted, running, mattress, and subcuticular sutures, with instruction on bite geometry and tension control. You will practise hand-tie and instrument-tie knots until they are consistent and secure. Layered closure of fascia, subcutaneous tissue, and skin is covered in full procedural sequence. You will also learn to recognise and manage complications such as wound dehiscence, surgical site infection, haematoma, and suture reactions. Local anaesthesia, post-closure dressing selection, and patient communication are included to prepare you for complete procedural encounters.
