What will I learn?
Gain hands-on expertise in operating a 750 kg coreless induction furnace for steel and grey iron. Master charge design, heat calculations, alloying, deoxidation, desulphurisation, and inoculation. Control slag, manage temperatures, inspect green sand moulds, prevent defects, and ensure safe operations with emergency protocols, shift handovers, and documentation.
Elevify advantages
Develop skills
- Induction furnace operations: safely and efficiently melt steel and grey iron.
- Charge design and slag management: prepare charges, handle slag, and achieve target chemistry quickly.
- Casting defect prevention: identify, analyse, and eliminate porosity, slag inclusions, and erosion.
- Green sand mould optimisation: test sand properties, adjust moulds, and check gating systems prior to pouring.
- Foundry safety and collaboration: utilise PPE, crane signals, and conduct effective shift handovers.
